The Greek Islands Rally began in 2009 with 22 riders from the US, Canada, Greece and the UK. The 2010 Rally will build on the experience of the first rally, and will include a series of competitive road rallies requiring navigational skill. Awards will be presented to the best individual competitors as well as best teams.
ScooterGiro Cyclades is a competitive Time, Speed, Distance road rally, conducted in the spirit and traditions of classical road rallies. You will ride three measured distance courses on Paros and three on Naxos. The objective is not speed, but precision navigation and completing each course in exactly the time allotted, riding at or below the posted speed limits, as appropriate. Perfect time is zero points. Too fast is 2 penalty points per second and too slow is one penalty point per second. Lowest total penalty points wins. There are awards for the Paros routes only, the Naxos routes only and Grand Champions (lowest total of all six courses). The courses will be on magnificently scenic roads, covering a total of well over 350 kilometers.
While the primary competition is on an individual basis, you can also form a Team of three and the total score of your "Team" will be used to award Team trophies. You can bring a team from your local scooter club or form a team on site.
As in the past, there will be plenty of free time for riding, shopping and partying, AND, OF COURSE, if competition doesn't interest you, simply join us for the rest of the fun. But before you get frightened off by the idea of competition, click on "Competition Guide" above.
The rally package will include the hotel in Athens (1 night) ferries to and from the islands, 5 nights hotel on Paros, 5 nights hotel on Naxos (to include 3 nights in Apollonas!), daily breakfast, four group dinners, necessary maps, competitor's bibs, a rally patch, and more. Transportation to and from Athens and your home is not included.

A 30% deposit will be required at the time of booking, and the balance will be due no later than April 15, 2010. Complete details are available via the Participants Forum. All payments (other than scooter rental) will be made to the travel agency.
Scooter Rental will be paid directly to the Scooter Rental Agencies at time of pickup, and is not included in the price above. Scooter rental cost will range from 140 to 200 Euros per scooter for the entire time you are on the islands, based upon the insurance coverage, displacement and model you select. A scooter rental price schedule will be available on the Participants' Forum.
